Quebec Re-starts Immigrant Investor Program On 31 August 2015

The much-awaited date for re-opening of QIIP (Quebec Immigrant Investor Program) has finally announced by the Quebec government. The program reopens from 31 August 2015 through 29 January 2016. This program eases the immigration process for skilled investors who would like to settle in Quebec and make a passive investment in the province through a certified financial intermediary.

Quebec Immigrant Investor Program is well-matched to investors with business management experience and looking for a path to apply for Canada Permanent Residency. However, in order to become eligible for QIIP, an applicant must meet the below requirements:

• Applicant should have at least CAD$1,600,000 to move to Canada either alone or with spouse
• Applicant should have experience in managing or owning a professional firm or business for two years in the past five years
• Applicant should intended to settle in province and sign a contract to invest CAD$800,000 with a certified financial intermediary

Applicant’s application will be assessed based on the factors such as educational background, age and professional background.

Effective 31 August 2015, the program will start applications intake and accept a maximum of 1,750 applications. From each country, a maximum of 1,200 applications will be accepted. Applicants with French language skills are eligible for priority processing and can file their application at any time prior to 31 March 2016. Moreover, there exists no cap for applicants with French language skills. Under QIIP, this year, only completed visa applications will be considered. Apparently, as the program is lengthy process, prospective applicants should begin the process ahead of 31 August 2015.
