With an intention to address the present labor market scarcities, the federal government has announced the increase of Saskatchewan’s provincial nominee cap to 5,500 by adding an extra 775 nominations.
Effective 2015, on a whole 5,500 nominations will be accepted by the government under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), which shows an increase of 16% when compared to 2014.
The further nominations would be made by means of new Saskatchewan Express category, which will be declared on 2 January 2015 together with the new Canada Express Entry system.
Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program would commence to accept the applications under the new category in starting 2015.
Under the federal government new Express Entry system selected candidates from a pool would be invited to lodge an application for Canada permanent residence.
The minister for Responsible for Immigration, Jeremy Harrison, in a press release said that the increase in intake of applications would results in several benefits such as quicker federal processing of applications for permanent residence and a new path for businesses looking to plug the significant labor market scarcities by recruiting eligible and skilled foreign workers,
It is anticipated that by accepting 5,500 people nominations in the next year, the overall new residents’ number might reach around 14,000 in the province, while their families are included.
In the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth, the government fixed a goal to boost the number of SINP spaces to 6,000 by 2020.
