Saskatchewan Entrepreneurs Draw Invites 42 Candidates

On January 7^th Saskatchewan held its first Entrepreneur draw for the present year 2020 which was also the first after changing the system to select candidates. 42 invitations were issued by using the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program.

Selected candidates had a score of 120 points in Expression of Interest and the lowest score was 115 points. The highest was 145.

The invited beneficiaries who had a score of 115 points also needed CLB four levels for qualifying.

Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Stream Draw

After the changes commencing from December 2019, the province now gives a priority to three factors in selection in order to separate candidates having a similar score on the Entrepreneur point grid.

These factors are:

• Ability in Official language
• The persons with a business plan for major economic sector
• Completing the exploratory visit

The previous Entrepreneur draw was held on Dec 5^th, 2019, which invited 62 candidates at a score of 120. The next date of the draw is March 5^th, 2020.

 Details of Entrepreneur Stream in 2019

There are three stages in the Saskatchewan immigration Entrepreneur stream:

• Firstly the Expression of interest
• This is followed by Invitation for submitting an application
• Finally is the Nomination
• The EOI has to meet these entry requirements:
• A net worth of $500,000 which must be acquired legally
• Three years of entrepreneurial or management experience
• Investing $300,000 in Saskatoon or Regina or, $200,000 in other areas
• All Candidates enter the pool and receive a score. The highest-scoring candidates can submit the application.

Applications norms:

• Business Establishment Plan has to confirm the figures provided in expression of interest, and also there must be one-third ownership of this company in the province except when investment is $1 million
• A firm Commitment to managing the business on a daily basis
• Creating two (or more) jobs for citizens or permanent residents Canada when the business is in Saskatoon or Regina

Saskatchewan has also launched an International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream that started in December, for the international students that graduate from institutions in Saskatchewan.

There are four stages in the stream;

• Candidates have to submit the Expression of Interest,
• Obtain the Invitation to Apply,
• Establish the business when they are on the Post-Graduation Work Permit
• The last stage is of nomination for permanent residence
