28 Dec 2018

Economic growth in South Africa has been stable as of late, and as one of the continent leaders, other nations look to R.S.A for encouragement, resources, and possibility.

Being a developing 3rd world nation has its growing pains, and many recognize the possibility it has but feel law, and contemporary red tape has kept international skills and investment at arm’s length. While the immigration can be slow and stressful in any nation, South Africa has been designated to be a bit too difficult at times.

The Home Affairs Department has done some reforms about this; to encourage tourism and to promote a lot of higher business possibilities.

Let’s view at what these current modifications are, which has been declared on 25 Sept 2018.

Implementation of E-visas

E-visas are an e-form of your visa instead of physical paperwork. From 2019 -Autumn, SA sees to try this system with tourists to and from New Zealand.

In addition, E-gates are also being launched, which indicates that you need to scan your passport and see into a camera, enabling you to progress by border control  of SA without having to remain in very big queues or face any human communication.

Visa appeals have been made much simpler for Indian and Chinese tourists

Traveling to SA just got much more comfortable for Indian and Chinese visitors. These modifications will come into force:

  • Visa appeals for SA can now be given via courier, preferably than in person.
  • Biometrics will solely be obtained on the entry in SA.
  • 05-year infinite entry visas will also be given.

Update on Critical skills

By Apr 2019, Department of Home Affairs will have an updated critical skills list for immigrants. However, they are expected to add further fields of the professions to the list, welcoming for a wider skilled range and important migrant workers.

Importantly, global students who graduated from SA university courses associated with the shortlist of critical skills will be given the opportunity to appeal for South African permanent residency.
