New immigrants have generally been able to integrate well with others from their own religious groups. Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong said that his government have programmes aimed at helping them integrate with people from other religions as well. This will be of great help to the people who have already migrated to this country and also for the people who are waiting to migrate to Singapore.
He said: "We also have various platforms to ensure that new citizens understand the importance of racial and religious harmony in Singapore. For example, through the milestone programmes that new citizens go through helps them to appreciate our culture and heritage and respect for those of different faiths. This can ensure religious harmony and respect to other religions.
"The Inter-racial and Religious Confidence Circles, or the IRCCs, also seek to build local networks of trust for our religious and community leaders.” "These networks help to promote engagement across different religious groups at the local level. They create opportunities for our people, including new immigrants, to interact, foster ties and widen the common ground we all share together." This will ensure a family of different cultures coming together.
