A global business consultancy firm, KPMG in their report named Skilled Migration Survey 2010 mentioned that employers are being forced to increase their skilled migration intake to overcome the skills shortage.
As per the current boom in Australia, there is low unemployment and demand for overseas skilled workers to fill gaps in the labor market which is expected to continue.
Survey found that nearly 50 percent of businesses are suffering from skills shortage. It also found that Australian states like Queensland and South Australia are experiencing skills shortage. To overcome this problem they should apply to employ skilled workers under Australia's 457 temporary employer-sponsored visa scheme. It has been noticed that Western Australia benefitted by bringing in skilled workers under Australian skilled migration programs. Additionally, 60 percent of employers maintained that they are maintaining their skilled migration intake. Due to Australia’s aging work force, it is expected that their businesses will get affected in the next five years.
