Skilled Workers Shortage Will Impact Businesses In Quebec

For almost half of the businesses in the province Quebec, hiring of skilled workers is the first concern they assume to face in the upcoming three years, as per the survey carried by Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. The survey also observed that 23% of small and medium enterprises were anxious about holding the staff they already have.

Approximately 83% of the total of 300 companies that were studied showed they were spending on employee training to make up for the shortage of qualified workers.

The study also observed that the shortage of skilled workers was blocking the day-to-day operations of these companies as well as their long-term improvement. Labour market deficit is influencing the businesses growth in Quebec, especially those depends outside major cities, as per the survey.

Immigration System of Quebec Skilled Worker

The Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration System is presently undergoing a change from the old first-come-first-served system to the latest Expression of Interest system. The government of Coalition Avenir Quebec (CAQ) has assured to decrease immigration goals by 20% in 2019, from 50,000 to 40,000. The profiles enrolled with the system are granted scores depends on the various qualification factors, and the top scoring applicants are invited to appeal for a Québec Acceptance Certificate (C.A.Q) with which they can appeal for Canada PR.
