South African Airways (SAA) has announced that child travelers moving to and from South Africa will have to provide extra documents from 01 October 2014.
The new regulations have come after the execution of the SA Immigration Amendment Act of 2010. The act signifies that children are defined as anyone below 18 years of age.
Tlali Tlali, Spokesman from SAA said that the regulations have been planned to ensure the safety of the children.
Children accompanied by their parents have to present a birth certificate that includes the names of parents. While, Children traveling with single parent have to provide a affidavit from other parent approving the travel or an order from the court demonstrating guardianship or a certificate of death of other parent.
Besides, if the child is traveling with people other than parents, have to present affidavits from their guardians or parents along with copies of their passports or identity documents and details of contact.
Children who travel single have to provide additional documents giving details of the information of the person who will receive the child. Furthermore, documents that are not in English have to be certified along with a sworn statement.
