South African Home affairs department is set to speed up the progress of visa centers and biometrics recording systems to reduce disorder.
Minister for Home affairs, Malusi Gigaba, said that spending an amount of R5million for lodging biometric systems at all nation’s international points of entry would finally end the necessity of transit visas.
Biometric details can be used to check the visitors against their schedule of travel as a replacement for transit visas.
Gigaba along with Derek Hanekom, Minister of Tourism, have accepted to extent cooperation to raise the number of visa application centers overseas especially in India and China, who were the major source of income for tourism sector.
Indian tourists have increased by approximately 80 percent in the previous five years, while Chinese visitors have increased by 235 percent.
South African government intended to open ten centers in India additionally and tourism department would designate the location of these centers.
Gigaba has clarified, regarding the requirement of unabridged birth certificate for foreign minors visiting South Africa, that the document of a particular country written in the language of that country need not be translated. However, it has to be equivalent of South African unabridged birth certificate.
