South Australia : Reforms To General Skilled Migration Nomination Policies

Immigration South Australia is proposing some reforms to its nomination policies of general skilled migration. All include offering more significant opportunity for the nomination, who is graduating from educational institutions in South Australia are mainly benefiting.

Rewarding Foreign Students Who are South Australian Long-term Residents

• Is a present or past international student living in South Australia; AND
• Has lived continuously in South Australia since Mar 2012 or prior and remains to live in South Australia; AND

Development of the extraordinary performing graduate category for graduates from South Australia

Immigration South Australia offers state nomination without the requirement for work experience for students and to get a skills evaluation where they can achieve the great performing graduate settings.  

For graduates from South Australia with a bachelor’s degree or masters by coursework following a bachelor’s degree from South Australia, this work experience waiver needed the least grade point average (G.P.A) of 6.0. This mark continues for those attempting nomination for a permanent (subclass190) visa.

For other students who not secured GPA of 6.0 and above but performed well, Immigration South Australia will offer Provisional (subclass 489) visa nomination to those scoring a G.P.A of 5.20 to 5.99. It will enable these students to spend higher time in South Australia than through other temporary pathways possible, giving them extra time to build their careers.

This expansion is related to those students finishing courses where a professional skills evaluation is feasible immediately upon course completion, such as accounting/business and engineering degrees. Some courses, especially those evaluated by VETASSESS, require a minimum of 12 months of skilled work experience prior to a skills evaluation can be awarded. 

To obtain this waiver, the candidate must have finished their South Australia degree within the past two years and remained to live in South Australia since then.
