France regrets the failure of the latest round of negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan on common economic issues which took place in Addis Ababa under the auspices of the African Union High-Level Panel.
It reaffirms its confidence in the Panel led by President Mbeki, with which it is in close contact, and encourages the parties to resume the negotiations as swiftly as possible in order to achieve a swift settlement of the dispute between them.
An agreement on all of the issues that have remained unresolved since South Sudan’s independence is essential in order to allow the two States to live in harmony and would be of significant political and economic benefit to both Sudan and South Sudan.
