There is a new law forcing foreign employers to report temporary postings in a centralized registry. According to the new law, the foreign employers need to report to Arbetsmiljöverket (Swedish Work Environment Authority) at the latest when a foreign worker is assigned to work in Sweden for more than 5 days.
Head of the authority, Mikael Sjöberg, believes that the new system will allow a smoother transfer for workers posted in Sweden and will have more transparent and simplified monitoring. He told Sveriges Radio (SR) that by doing this, there is more information available regarding who is actually in the country, so that both Arbetsmiljöverket and the union can review the operations.
Around 1,000 companies that signed up so far for the scheme are mostly from manufacturing, construction and IT Industry. Any employer that fails to report a posting will face a fine of 20,000 kronor ($3,075). The Arbetsmiljöverket is in charge of monitoring the rules on registration.
