Former Cabinet Ministers have declared that, Theresa May should adopt the point-based system by 2020 else she will face a backlash from the Brexit supporters.
Comments by ministers are creating a pressure on Theresa May. She finds it quite hard to negotiate the issue regarding Brexit and due to this issue the cabinet is experiencing a split. Currently, 5 ministers in cabinet are supporting the points-based system in UK.
Amber Rudd, the Home Secretary denies the idea in a campaign and he is supported by Ms. May and Phillip Hammond. Reports have shown that the existing government will not be taking any this idea into consideration until next negotiation and negotiation is two years away.
According to Tory, one of the Brexit supporters, if the points-based system is introduced in UK it will assist in controlling the number of people entering in the country.
Ms. Villiers said that, “a skills shortage was a sensible way to have a reformed immigration system”. She also said referring to the acceptance and implementation of the points-based system by 2020, “That’s an achievable and sensible goal. I very much hope that it’s going to be possible to deliver that.”
Mr. Duncan Smith also shared his belief by mentioning that, “It is my view that we will have left the EU by the time of the next election which means we have to have a system in place that controls migration. People are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think the British voters did anything else but absolutely vote to take back control. It was very explicit that means migration and that's exactly what they voted for.”
Ms. Villiers expressed her sorrow while leaving her role for Northern Ireland. She also strained on the fact that passport controls are not necessary on the borders of Northern Ireland. She mentioned her support for Ex- Prime Minister Cameron’s controversial honors list.
