Tution Fee Increase Will Not Hit Indian Students

12 Nov 2010

UK government has planned to increase fees for undergraduate study for British and EU and that will not affect international students including Indians. Government is planning to treble fees from an approximate amount of £3000 paid towards undergraduate course.

The hike has been introduced to reduce the dependence of universities on public funding system. A universal loan system will be offered to Home and EU students to repay his or her individual loan after they  begin to earn £21,000 per annum.

Ritu Gupta, general manager, University of Leeds South AsiaOffice, New Delhi, pointed out that the fee hike for home EU students may turn out to be good news for Indian students. She says that it will be a level playing ground and Indian student being major source of revenue will be reduced
