UK Government Is Likely To Relax Visitor Visa Norms In 2015

In a major decision taken to streamline the immigration system for tourists, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) is planning to relax visitor visa norms, effective April 2015. The UKVI is trying to find out more options to make the system more accessible and clearer for tourists.

It is expected that the visitor visa routes will be reduced to four from fifteen in order to provide more flexible and convenient framework. However, the current visitor visa rules will not be deleted instead they will be assimilated under new categories.

According to sources, the new visitor visa categories are likely to be Visitor, Marriage, Permitted paid engagements and Transit visas. In case of student visitors, the six and eleven month routes will be transformed into short-term study to make it easy for them.

Apparently, the reduction of visa categories will permit individuals to perform more authorized activities on a single visa instead of applying for different visas to take up various activities. It is expected that these proposals would help applicants to understand what they can really get involved into during their visit to the UK.
