UK Government Plans To Bring Back Post-Study Work Visas

The UK government could be forced to allow the return of post-study work visas for abroad students later Jo Johnson’s intention to force its hand attracted notable Conservative support – it includes his brother Boris, the front-runner to be upcoming prime minister, and the home secretary, Sajid Javid.
Jo Johnson, the previous Tory universities minister, tabled a bill to the April's immigration bill, besides Paul Blomfield, Labour MP. The bill, which has obtained cross-party support, intends to force the UK government to enable abroad students to
live in the UK "to explore for work or obtain work experience" for minimum two years after the finishing of their courses.
New Proposed UK Amendment Details
The bill also intends to stop any government from limiting abroad student numbers without approval from parliament.
75 MPs from all political parties have signed up to support the amendment, along with 26 Conservatives – among them, Sir Graham Brady and Boris Johnson, until newly the chair of the Tory backbenchers 1922 Committee. The Conservatives don't have a priority in the Commons and depend on assistance from the Democratic Unionist Party, whose international trade and education spokespeople have endorsed up to support Mr. Johnson's bill.
The decision to cancel post-study work visas in the year 2012 – taken during Theresa May serving as a home secretary – is seen as a significant factor in the following collapse in the recruitment of Indian students at UK universities, in special.
The offer of the UK is viewed as unattractive to students, related to the generous post-study work visa grants from important global rivals in global student recruitment: Canada, New Zealand, the US, and Australia.
Vivienne Stern, UK International Universities Director, said that allowing the bill "would be a great positive move on the part of the government, and would improve a long-standing policy limit to increase in foreign student numbers."
The International student in UK recruitment has declined in current years, she stated, primarily due to the offering of Un-competitive visa.
