UK Prime Minister, David Cameron clarified that UK immigration still welcomes skilled immigrants from India. During a recent visit to India last month, he asserted that relationship between both the countries will be take to an admirable level that makes the relationship stronger and deeper.
Mr. Cameron maintained that closing the doors on immigration is neither beneficial for the UK nor for the other nations. he also stated that UK has gained much from the talented and skilled immigrants moving to the UK in the past 100 years.
Immigration not only is beneficial for the UK economy but is even helpful in enriching the culture of the UK in a great way. And hence, the aim of new policies of UK immigration is to continue immigration into the UK, although at controlled levels.
This is true for all nations who favor immigrants possessing requisite skills or qualifications for granting work visas or work permits to move abroad and the UK is not doing anything different by resorting to controlled levels of immigration into the country.
During 2004, UK immigration levels touched a new high, which led to the increase in the number of immigrants that ultimately placed pressure on public services and caused tensions. To avoid such problems in the near future, the UK immigration department has decided to allow only limited immigrants into the UK each year.
UK is interested to bring in the brightest to UK. For this, it has thrown open doors of immigration for those having desired skills for the jobs in the UK. So, it does not need unskilled workers in the UK and is likely to place an annual cap on skilled workers to be allowed into the UK from April 2011 onwards. Till then, the UK immigration will be governed by a temporary limit imposed by UK immigration department to avoid rush of applications received before April 2011. The policies are aimed to balance the UK immigration policy.
