UK Immigration To Hike Visa Fees

UK Immigration Minister, Mark Harper has proposed to hike visa fees, max. by 3% to meet the current inflation rate. The proposals will come into effect from 6th April 2013, subjected to Parliamentary approval.

Tourist Visa which is currently 78 pounds would see a hike of 2 pounds. Tier 1 (Entrepreneur, Investor, Exceptional Talent1) Visa which is currently having a visa fee of 816 pounds would be increased to 840 pounds on 6th April.

“These increases are mostly in line with inflation and will ensure that the UK continues to welcome the brightest and the best. It is only right that those who use and benefit from the immigration system should contribute more than the UK taxpayer.”
