UK Tier 2 Dependents Will Not Lose Working Rights In UK

The United Kingdom’s Immigration Minister Broken Shire announced that the dependants of Tier 2 visa will have unrestricted rights to work in the United Kingdom. On the advice of the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), UK introduced significant changes to the tier 2 visa classes, the primary visa class that helps immigrants to settle and Work in the United Kingdom.

The Immigration Minister Said that the no changes would be introduced that affects the working rights of the Dependents of Tier 2 Visa. The UK earlier introduced a new salary threshold of 35 000 pounds for the tier 2 visas but later added new salary cap after the opposition from the various manufacturing and other industry bodies of the United Kingdom.

Presently, for tier 2 general workers the salary cap is 25000 pounds and for intra-company transfers, the salary cap is 30 000 pounds. For graduate trainees, the salary cap is 23 000. However, some sectors such as healthcare and academics are exempted from the salary caps. The skilled shortage occupations of the United Kingdom are also exempted from the salary caps.

India is the highest beneficiary of the tier 2 visas. Indian Government has raised the issue with the UK at many events. The resultant was the assurance from the UK Prime Minster David Cameroon that Indians will not be affected by the new Tier 2 salary cap.
