Immigration authority, UK Border Agency (UKBA) is planning to introduce the database with information about immigrants to UK in September. The database will have details about the migrants including the address of residency in UK. This will help the authority to tackle the pending illegal immigrant cases.
People entering UK Tier 4 student visas will be monitored specifically. Personal information will be collected from various sources including flight records and college admission receipts. The visa expiry date will also be mentioned. If the person does not leave UK within 28 days, he will be deported, and a ban will be imposed on the person from entering UK.
Immigration Minister, Damian Green had earlier said that “From debrief interviews, we have found that a third of people decide to overstay at the point their visa expires. If we can send these people letters warning of the consequences of illegally overstaying then I'm sure we can reduce the total number deciding to remain.”
Public can also file an application informing about suspected illegal immigrants. The complaints will be followed up by UKBA and proper action will be taken if the suspected migrant is found guilty.
Database launching by UKBA is welcomed by politicians and government. They hope that this will bring a control on the number of illegal immigrants. The delegates also told that people with genuine interests like study, work should come to UK freely with all proper documents.
