As US at present is facing joblessness in the country, it’s trying to motivate the high net worth applicants (HNIs) from India through EB-5 visa.
Greg Wing, Managing Director of Green Card (GCF) said, contribution from Indian HNI’s is less for EB-5 investor program due to lack of knowledge. Only 40 Indians in the 1st six months of this year have benefited from this program compared to 62 in 2010. Nearly 10,000 EB-5 visas are offered every year but only 4,200 candidates have participated in US Investor program so far from all over the world.
GCF is a federally-approved United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regional centre for EB-5 program. It has joined hands with an Indian consultancy and advisory firm, to create awareness about the investor program for generating employments in US.
For promoting this program in India, Seminars in Ahmedabad, Surat, Hyderabad and Chennai will be organized to edify HNI candidates by GCF.
EB-5 program enables an overseas candidate to obtain green card (permanent residence) for himself as well as for his family (children up to 21 yrs) by making an investment of USD 5, 00,000 into American commercial business that creates at least 10 jobs for US citizens. Wing said the benefit of this program is that, their investment will be returned with interest within 3-4 years of duration and GCF will also offer several projects for education, clean energy and healthcare facilities.
China topped with 866 investors under the program in 2010, followed by South Korea (295), Great Britain (135) and India (62). The program helped US attract investment of USD 1,104,500,000 in 2010.
