US President Donald Trump has declared that he will sign an Executive Order to suspend US immigration temporarily as early as Wednesday, 22 April 2020 citing coronavirus anxieties. The US president initially made the announcement through Twitter on 20th April night.
On 21st April evening, during his regular coronavirus directions at the White House, President Trump announced that his administration was presently working on drafting the Executive Order, and it could be available for his signature by Wednesday, 22 April 2020.
During his Tuesday evening announcement, Trump told the temporary suspension is fixed to last 60 days for PR visas (or “green cards”), though there will be few exceptions, which he did not mention.
The president also attached that the suspension of US immigration was not simply a means to contain the COVID-19 spread, but also to support American workers who have been damaged by the economic results of the coronavirus pandemic.
Canada is also struggling with COVID-19 and has established emergency measures that include travel limitations on some international citizens.
Nonetheless, it continues committed to accommodating newcomers, temporary immigrant workers, and global students as much as feasible. It has not suspended immigration, but rather, proceeds to invite international citizens to provide their applications to arrive in Canada.
Understanding that foreign citizens may have trouble getting all required documentation now due to coronavirus-related breaks, Canada has said it will not refuse any application that is incomplete because of such delays.
In addition, Canada remains to hold both federal and provincial draws of immigration to invite new people to apply for Canada PR status.
