In Chennai, a top diplomat has said today, that visas issued by the consulate General of Germany is expected to cross the magical figure of 20,000 this year when compared to last year it was only 18,000.
The Consular Attache, Martin Rojek has told the reporters that, the Consulate are expecting an increase of about 15% particularly in trade as well as business visas, over the previous year figure which was around 18,000. It does include 1,300 student visas.
The state Tamil Nadu with 70 to 75 % has topped for issuing visas from the German consulates. It covers states such as Andhra Pradhesh, Pondicherry, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
On November 2nd, Martin has said, that the consulate would launch its Roll out region 20 in India, by then finger prints would become mandatory for the visa processing.
He added, the fingers prints taken would be valid for 5 years and there would be, no need to take the fingerprint for each trip.
While answering the question on opening a fingerprint centre, he said there is no immediate plan for it, but they would take efforts to set up the centre.
He further added, security of those students who plan to study in Germany, he has said that about 15% of foreign students in Germany has helped in creating environment which is friendly and also are adjusting themselves.
