Fast-track visas for frequent flyers deal was struck between New Zealand’s immigration department and two major Chinese Airlines. Air China and China Eastern Airlines provides fast-track visas to its Gold and platinum members and its Silver and Gold Members, respectively.
The deal with China Southern Airlines in 2012 raised concerns as the New Zealand First leader, Winston Peters claimed that SkyCity wanted to appeal to high-rollers who wanted to avoid being questioned about their finances and profession.
Without meeting the requirements of health and character, visas will not be issued. Nathan Guy, the Immigration Minster, the Immigration system and its integrity will not be compromised because this deal is foolproof. This also ensures that these frequent flyers have a shorter waiting period for their visitor visa, while they meet the said requirements.
Air China flies directly from Beijing while China Eastern Airlines has direct flights that connect Shanghai to Auckland.
