One of the most prosperous regions of Australia which is quite popular with international workers, Western Australia, is reviewing its current skilled migration occupation list.
The new list is expected sometime in October. Officials are insistent that before the new 2013-2014 list becomes operational, there will be a notice of at least 15 days, and till then, the present 2012-2013 list is active for people applying for visas.
Western Australia’s DTWD (Department of Training and Workforce Development) hopes to release the WASMOL (Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List) for 2013-2014 soon. The list is critical as people working in an occupation on the current WASMOL are the only ones who can apply for State nomination.
A spokesman said that the State nomination criteria are also under review, and until further notice, the criteria of 2012-2013 will remain in effect. He also said that at least 15 business days before the implementation of the new criteria, a Notification will be provided on the migration portal.
International visa applicants need to also remember that the process of State Nomination has changed, and DTWD no longer accepts direct applications for the same.
Eligible applicants need to apply through the DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) SkillSelect system which means submitting an EOI (Expression of Interest) to the DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship) through the SkillSelect database.
The applicants are selected from SkillSelect and they are offered an invitation to apply for State Sponsorship. Upon invitation to apply, applicants will be provided with a unique identifier to submit their application to the DTWD.
