Following much sunshine and spring-like temperatures, winter is returning once again. It will be noticeably colder and snow is possible in the valleys, stated the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG).
It will be heavily overcast in the North and East of Austria – apart from a few exceptions during the morning hours today (Mon). Rain will be possible here and there. The snow line will be between 1,000 and 1,500 metres above sea level but it will drop on Monday night.
Tomorrow there will be a high chance of rain or sleet almost everywhere in Austria. The snow line in the area from Upper Austria to Burgenland will be at 400 metres above sea level.
The temperatures will rise from minus three and plus five degrees Celsius in the morning to a maximum of two to eleven degrees Celsius. It will be coldest in the East.
Wednesday will be very cloudy everywhere in Austria. There will be little precipitation in the North and Northeast. However, there is the possibility of snow in lower altitudes in the early morning.
The weather will not change on Thursday: there will be low pressure coming from the Adriatic Sea; with clouds and snowfall even in lower altitudes. Heavy snow will be possible in the North and Northeast. A strong wind could create snowdrifts in Burgenland.
