With an aim to attract qualified doctors for working in the Provincial Health Service the Nova Scotia Immigration Office has commenced a new Physician Stream
The Nova Scotia Health Authority and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre is seeking the services of Family Physicians, General Practitioners, and Specialist Physicians from abroad. It has been designed specifically to help fill up the positions, where the Health Authorities, were unable to find a Canadian citizen or PR.
Candidates initially need to apply to the Nova Scotia Immigration Department and seek the provincial nomination, prior to applying for PR to IRCC.

The approved opportunity needs to be on the official letterhead of NSHA or IWK and must bear the signature of the person authorized to hire physicians. It must have a date also.

It must point out eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia,
It must point out that the applicant has the eligibility to apply for credentials and privileges with NSHA/IWK
Education and Training
A copy must be submitted of the Education CredentialAssessment/proof of education/ medical training which is required for licensure in the province
Language Ability
The candidate must have the ability to perform the tasks in the official languages of Canada, as seen through an employment offer, from the NSHA/IWK.
Features of a New Program:
The Nova Scotia ‘Study and Stay’ program will be rolled out across Atlantic Canada because the area wishes to attract additional international students for staying after graduation.
‘Study and Stay’ provides services to a chosen group of global students and helps them to integrate into the Nova Scotia society fully.
It addresses the retention problem where 60 percent of immigrants reaching Atlantic Canada stay back, compared to 90 percent in Alberta and Ontario.
The Study and Stay’ is intended to complement the Atlantic Immigration Pilot, which has an international student stream providing PR to graduates having a Job Offer issued by a recognized employer.
