Overview

Sweden Dependent Visa is designed for close relatives* of family members who has a valid Sweden Citizenship or has a Sweden Permanent Residence Permit.

The family member must be over 18 years of age.

Close relatives need to have Sweden Dependent Visa or a Sweden Residence Permit as a dependent of the family membe to move to Sweden.

*Close Relatives are:

Visa applicant should be/or planning to become a husband/wife, registered partner or common-law spouse (cohabitee)

Children under 18 and their parents

Note: Other close dependents are allowed with a proof that proves that you are especially dependent on the family member who is moving to or is in Sweden

Documents Required from Applicant

Every visa applicant for Sweden Dependent Visa needs to submit the below documents:

• Valid passport
• Civic registration/family certificate (personbevis) of the family member, if he is already living in Sweden
• Sponsorship from the main applicant

Documents required from married couples

• Wedding certificate or marriage certificate
• Document showing that the marriage has been registered in your country of origin
• Proof of national registration, a rental contract or proof of sale for your joint residence, or other document that shows you have lived together

Unmarried couples

If you are not married, you need:

• Proof of national identity or other document showing that you are not married
• Proof of national registration, a rental contract or proof of sale for your joint residence, or other document that shows you have lived together

Children under age 18

• Birth or kinship certificate.
• Written consent of the child’s custodian. If there is only one custodian, a document showing that this is the case must be attached to the application.

Other close relatives

Other close relatives are the members of the applicant or his/her spouse’s family

• Document proof is essential that indicates that you and your relative are dependent on each other and really can’t live without each other either for social, emotional or financial reasons
• Document proof that highlights tour relation
• Document showing that you lived together immediately before the relative moved to Sweden

Requirements for Family Member

• Family member is eligible to include dependents only if he/she has reached 18 years of age
• Family member who wants to bring dependents should be a Swedish citizen or have a permanent residence permit in Sweden
• Permanent residence permit holders or citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Norway can bring dependents(you must not be a citizen of Sweden) if your family member is another close relative
• A valid e-mail address is a must

Maintenance Requirements

Family member of the dependent has to show document proof that he/she has a work-related regular income.

The following factors can be considered as work-related income

• Wages and salary
• Unemployment benefits
• Sickness benefits
• Income-based old age pension

Note: The family member with sufficiently large capital can also bring their dependent

Note: Document proof of housing arrangement would also be needed

Visa Fee & Processing Time

Appliction fees for residence permits is different for adults and children under 18

Adults: SEK 1 500 or INR14 600

Children under 18: SEK 750 SEK or INR 7 300

Visa  Processing Time: Depends on embassy
