Changes To The UK Immigration Rules

The United Kingdom has made several changes to its Immigration rules so that foreign students and businesses have an easier access to the country. We’ve shared about these new rules here and here.

Mentioned below are a few more changes to the UK Immigration Rules.

1. Expanding the checks to ensure the genuine-nature of the applicants for work and student visas, and that they aim to meet the conditions of leave they apply for;
2. Introduction of power to deny Tier 4 extension applications where the applicant is not able to speak English;
3. Introduction of a scheme that allows some local staff in Afghanistan to relocate to the UK;
4. Setting new youth mobility scheme quotas for the year 2014;
5. Enabling the application of Tier 1 Visa for those who demonstrate exceptional promise in the arts;
6. Changes to the way of handling of settlement applications for refugees who have committed crimes, and adding the power to curtail leave for serious or persistent offenders;
7. Introducing temporary Immigration Rules for the participants and personnel to visit the UK during the 2014 Commonwealth Games;
8. Minor clarifications and changes to the Immigration Rules, including those relating to family life.
