Canada Immigration minister John McCallum is on spree of changing the rules of Canadian immigration, however few changes are providing advantage and few are not. The announcement made yesterday was a real game changer for people working in Canada on temporary workers visa.
The new announcement have scrapped the cumulative duration rule which is also known as “four-in, four-out” rule, which gives an individual provision to live and work in Canada for a duration of four years on this visa and post that client have to leave Canada for four year. In the new change, visa holders can apply for extension of their temporary visa which was not possible earlier. The government said the change will prevent unnecessary hardship and instability for both workers and employers.
The government also said it is further developing pathways to permanent residency for temporary foreign workers as part of its comprehensive review.
