Manitoba PNP Providing A Better Life To Its Rural Communities
10 May 2019
In 1996, the Manitoba Steinbach community had a population of 8,478 individuals, the number that has presently multiplied and thanks in significant part to the provincial nominee program of Manitoba.
The
Manitoba PNP became Canada’s initial provincial nominee program when it was launched in 1998 and has now brought in higher than 130,000 immigrants to the province of Manitoba since then. Higher than 20% of these immigrants settled themselves in regional, smaller communities like Steinbach.
Kelvin Goertzen, who serves Steinbach in Legislative Assembly of Manitoba told the result of the M.P.N.P has been a remarkable change for Steinbach and other local communities like it.
New and Better Life
PNPs like the Manitoba PNP help spread the advantages of immigration beyond major urban centers of Canada by enabling engaging territories and provinces to nominate fixed economic immigration applicants for permanent residence to Canada each year.
In the year 2018, the M.P.N.P chose a record 5,119 immigration applicants by its
Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker in Manitoba streams. Indian Citizens reached with 34.2% of all nominations latest year, succeeded by Chinese citizens at 15.8% and Philippines citizens at 11.8%.
Vitally, approximately 90% of immigrants choose to live in Manitoba province, he noted, a fact that is breathing fresh life into the regional communities where they live.
Labour force increased by immigration has also supported local businesses in Manitoba to grow and expand. This movement has taken the eye of communities in the regional areas and in other provinces, many which have sent delegations to the province of Manitoba to study from its experiences.
Goertzen states the Canadian government’s newly started Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot also draws on best practices of Manitoba, which he described as associations with regional business and leaders of economic development, effective planning settlement and focused recruitment to fit regional needs.
