Quebec Announces Its Plan To Enhance Access To MIDI Services To Employers

Quebec has published it will open 40 latest immigration ministry (MIDI) service points over the province to enhance access for companies and regions.

The development will comprise the addition of higher than 100 new staff and indicate Quebec immigration has their presence in 50 cities over the French-speaking province, Simon Jolin-Barrette, Immigration Minister announced on 28 Aug 2019.

It will also notice that two new MIDI regional directorates began, making the whole number to six.

New Roles of the Quebec Immigration Department

The development will see the production of a brand-new role with the department that is Advisor for Regional Immigration.

Current staff members will be assigned:

• Keeping firms informed on the programs accessible for temporary and permanent immigration, and the possible financial support.
• Processing applications of business.
• Helping companies to use the Arrima program ‘Employer Portal’.

Quebec Government Releases Fund to Support Firms

The improvements, which will see an investment of CAD 8.3 million, follow Quebec’s move to contribute CAD 55 million to assist businesses looking to recruit temporary immigrant workers, in the province to overcome labor shortage.

The latest funding, published by Jean Boulet, Labour Minister on 26 August, comprises CAD 20.9 million in support for businesses attending to hire temporary immigrant workers.

The remaining CAD 33.9 million is to be used on the immigrant workers' employment integration, improving the province’s Visible Minority and Immigrant Integration Program (PRIIME) and Globally Trained Employment Integration Program (IPOP).

These are many recent changes produced by the Coalition Avenir Quebec (CAQ). The populist government intends to lessen immigration by 20% in 2019 as it improves the integration of newcomers.
