What are the changes?

The immigration department of Quebec is on its way to announce important changes to its programs. These include the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, and the Quebec Experience Program.

Consequently, there will be an announcement on March 28^th which will outline the changes to happen on August 1.

Job offer/stay

The QSW will see a change on the job offer as well as in the stay in Quebec. Presently 10 points are available for job offers and 5 points for a stay in the province. The announcement regarding the cap to receive 5,000 applications done in the past will not get a consideration.

QSW Points Grid

In the QIIP, the threshold for investment will increase from $800,000 to $1.2 million. Moreover, Candidates must have a net worth of $2 million which is acquired legally. Presently, the norm is to have $1.6 million. The amended program will come into effect in August 2018.

QIIP Existing Requirements

• The applicant must have a personal and lawful net worth of $1.6 million;
• Uniquely, the applicant must have Two years experience in management or business in the five years before submitting the application;
• Together with this, the applicant must invest $800,000 in an investment guaranteed by the government for five years. It will not earn any interest;
• The applicant must have an intention to settle in Quebec.

The PEQ changes will assure the applicants arriving on a spousal open-work-permit to gain eligibility. The program will be expanded to cover employment in the NOC class C and D.

There is a plan to start new programs for self-employed persons and entrepreneurs.
